Originally from Cameroon, Ruphine Djuissi’s career is defined by breaking barriers. After navigating the rigorous National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) equivalence process in English, she achieved a historic milestone in 2022 as the first internationally trained Francophone called to the Manitoba Bar.
Beyond founding Djuissi Law Office, she has dedicated her career to the front lines of access to justice, providing legal representation to victims of domestic violence through the Association des juristes d’expression française du Manitoba (AJEFM). As the current Chair of the Canadian Bar Association’s National French-Speaking Members Section and a collaborator with the Centre canadien de français juridique (CCFJ), Ruphine is a vocal advocate against “linguistic insecurity.”
She challenges the legal community to see francophone internationally trained legal professionals not as outsiders, but as essential pillars of a justice system that must serve a diverse, bilingual population. Professional equity is a necessity, not a luxury.
