Serge Rousselle, Q.C., holds degrees in Political Science and Law from the University of Ottawa (both awarded summa cum laude), a Master of Laws from the University of Cambridge, and a Doctorate in Law from McGill University.
A professor at the Faculty of Law of the Université de Moncton since 1992, he has served as Vice-Dean and Dean, and has led several centres and organizations, including the Centre international de la common law en français and the Americas Office of the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie. He currently heads the International Observatory on Language Rights.
A member of the Law Society of New Brunswick since 1995, he has been involved in a number of landmark language rights cases. He has also served as minister of several government departments, including the Department of Education, and as Attorney General of New Brunswick for four years.
Deeply committed to his community, he has served as Chair of the Council of Canadian Law Deans and President of the Association des juristes d’expression française du Nouveau Brunswick, and regularly contributes to media commentary. A prolific author, he has received numerous distinctions, including the University of Ottawa Gold Medal, the Prix France-Acadie, and the Ordre des francophones d’Amérique.
