Philip Louis is Senior Director, Innovation and Digital Transformation at Lavery. Lawyer, programmer, and AI advisor, he works at the intersection of law, emerging technologies, and their responsible governance.
Before joining Lavery, he served as the Quebec Bar’s AI advisor, where he led work on the ethical and responsible use of AI in Quebec’s legal sector. In that role, he monitored technological developments, assessed their impact on the legal profession, helped shape organizational guidance, and advised decision-making bodies on matters involving professional ethics, access to justice, and the responsible adoption of AI. He also designed tools, guides, and training programs to support the legal community in using AI responsibly.
At Lavery, he now helps shape the firm’s innovation and digital transformation strategy, supporting the development of initiatives in products, data, AI, and automation, and helping build the governance frameworks needed to guide them responsibly. He has completed specialized training in responsible AI and human rights at the Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute, Mila, and is a member of the first cohort of the AI Brigade of the Conseil de l’innovation du Québec.
