Minister responsible for French Language Services Directorate John Streicker has issued the following statement:

“On behalf of the Government of Yukon, I invite everyone to join in celebrating National Acadian Day.

“Since 1881, the Acadian people have gathered on August 15 to honour their rich history and culture. “From their early beginnings in Atlantic Canada to the vibrant communities across the country today; Acadians continue to shape Canada’s cultural landscape through their language, creativity, and enduring community spirit.

“Here in the Yukon, we value the diverse backgrounds of all residents and recognize how traditions like those rooted in Acadian heritage add to the strength and richness of our territory.

“Bonne Fête nationale de l’Acadie!”
