On Thursday September 11, 2025, the Honourable Rebecca Chartrand, Minister of Northern and Arctic Affairs and Minister responsible for the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor), announced a contribution of up to $1.05 million to help maximize economic opportunities and support thriving French-language communities in the North.

On Official Languages Day, the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture and Minister responsible for Official Languages, is reaffirming the Government of Canada’s commitment to Canada’s Acadian and Francophone communities by announcing the signing of the Canada-New Brunswick Agreement on French First-Language Education and Second-Language Instruction, from 2024-25 to 2027-28.

To better support francophone students in Abbotsford and Victoria Westshore, land has been purchased to build French-language schools.

Government is investing $250,000 to support six non-profit organizations in delivering initiatives that reflect the needs and priorities of British Columbia’s francophone communities.
The funding will support a wide range of initiatives, including mental health, digital literacy, arts and culture.
The MCCF presents an update to its portrait of the Language Frameworks of Governments of Canada.
The Ontario government is supporting the construction of modern, safe and comfortable long-term care homes, housing and other critical infrastructure by selling unneeded government land in Aurora through the Surplus Lands Program. The land will be used to develop Communauté du Trille blanc (CTB) – Aurora, a new campus for the Francophone community that will include a 160-bed long-term care home, housing and recreation space.
Government has officially proclaimed the month of August as Acadian Heritage Month in PEI.

Today, the Honourable Mona Fortier, Member of Parliament for Ottawa-Vanier-Gloucester, on behalf of the Honourable Marjorie Michel, Minister of Health, announced more than $33 million to four francophone post-secondary training institutions across Ontario and $1 million in funding to the Government of Ontario to improve access to health services in French for Francophone communities.

The Advisory Committee on Francophone Affairs has presented the Minister Responsible for Francophone Affairs, Alana Ross, with a new report detailing their ongoing review and analysis of programs and policies in the social services sector. The report will help guide the continued implementation of Saskatchewan’s French-Language Services Policy.

The Honourable Doug Downey, Attorney General of Ontario, is pleased to announce the appointment of seven new judges to the Ontario Court of Justice, effective August 13, 2025.
On July 22, 2025, the Government of Canada announced more than $78 million in funding over five years to improve access to health services in French for Francophone communities.
The Ontario government is investing $10.8 million to re-launch French-language courses at the University of Sudbury, in partnership with the University of Ottawa. As part of its plan to protect Ontario, this investment will expand access to high-quality French-language postsecondary education in Northern Ontario, helping more Francophone students acquire the skills they need for good-paying, in-demand jobs and meet the needs of Ontario’s workforce.
The Ministers’ Council on the Canadian Francophonie (MCCF) held its annual meeting on June 26 and 27, 2025, in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.
