Adrian Dix, Minister of Health and minister responsible for Francophone Affairs of British Columbia government, also member of the Ministers’ Council on the Canadian Francophonie (MCCF), has announced $250,000 in funding to support five local non-profit organizations that serve the francophone and francophile communities in British Columbia.

The Ontario Government is delivering on its promise to improve access to quality services in French to Ontario’s growing Francophone community by introducing, as part of the Fall Economic Statement, proposed amendments that would modernize the French Languages Services Act. This is the first substantial review of the legislation since its introduction 35 years ago.

The Ontario government marked progress on its recently announced French Teacher Recruitment and Retention Strategy which is helping to recruit and retain new French-language teachers. The Government of Yukon and the Commission scolaire francophone du Yukon (CSFY) gathered today to celebrate the new French First Language Secondary School Community Centre, Centre scolaire secondaire communautaire Paul-Émile- Mercier (CSSC Mercier).
The province will begin installing bilingual stop signs on provincial roads in some Acadian communities this summer.
