Ricardo Miranda

Minister of Culture and Tourism
Minister responsible for the Francophone Secretariat


Ricardo Miranda was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, representing the constituency of Calgary-Cross, on May 5, 2015.

On February 2, 2016, Mr. Miranda was appointed Minister of Culture and Tourism, responsible for the Francophone Secretariat.

Preceding the ministry appointment, he served as chair of the Standing Committee on Alberta’s Economic Future and as a member of the Select Special Ethics and Accountability Committee and the Standing Committee on the Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund.

Prior to serving with the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Miranda worked as a flight attendant for 15 years and as a servicing representative, member organizer and researcher with the Canadian Union of Public Employees.

Mr. Miranda holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Calgary, and is working towards a secondary degree in industrial relations with a long term view of obtaining his PHD.
