The 23rd Ministerial Conference on the Canadian Francophonie
will be held on July 5 and 6, 2018 in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory

 The organization is currently recruiting for the following position:

National Coordination Assistant
Number: 2018-025


Duration: Two-year contract with possibility of renewal
Salary: Starting at $60,000, depending on experience and qualifications
Workplace: To be determined depending on place of residence of successful candidate - possibility of teleworking


Position Summary
Reporting to the National Coordinator of the MCCF, the successful applicant will have proficiency in French and English and will excel in clerical work, administrative and logistical support, event organization, and coordination of timely projects. The successful candidate will play a direct and significant role in support of the National Coordinator.


Logistical Duties

  • Provide logistical and administrative coordination for the following events (non-exhaustive list):
    • Annual ministers’ meeting;
    • Regular meetings of the Intergovernmental Network of the Canadian Francophonie;
    • Conference calls of the working groups;
    • All other intergovernmental meetings organized by the MCCF.


Administrative Duties

  • See to the operational and administrative management of the National Coordination Office;
  • See to the administration of the Conference’s budget in an efficient and effective manner;
  • See to the administration of consultants’ contracts;
  • Prepare calls for proposals;
  • Prepare financial reports;
  • Provide secretarial services for the working groups;
  • Manage the Conference’s archives;
  • See to updating the MCCF’s website.


Profile Required


  • Post-secondary training in a relevant discipline.


  • At least two years of experience in event and project coordination;
  • Demonstrated experience in administrative support roles;
  • Some experience in preparing community development and/or intergovernmental projects (asset);
  • Experience in managing projects related to website management (asset);
  • Experience working with various software applications (e.g., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows).


  • Knowledge of the Francophone community and/or intergovernmental environment;
  • Excellent command of French (spoken and written);
  • Good command of English (spoken and written).


  • Ability to work effectively both on a team and independently (and remotely);
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills;
  • Ability to keep information confidential;
  • Ability to manage through action;
  • Ability to initiate administrative processes that are effective and support smooth office administration;
  • Ability to conduct administrative research;
  • Ability to work under pressure.

  • Ability to act proactively;
  • Adaptability;
  • Judgment and discretion demonstrated in personal and professional relationships;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Client service orientation (government and conference members).



  • Hours of work are 36.25 hours/week; however, overtime may be required depending on events and the organization’s needs.
  • The position requires travel across Canada (3 to 4 times a year).
  • Work is done remotely most of the time as part of a small team.
